Sabarmathi Gurukulam is an educational institution inspired by the ancient Gurukulam system, where learning extends beyond academic instruction to include values, discipline, and respect for all living beings. Students are guided closely by their Gurus and teachers, learning not only through lessons but through lived experience, responsibility, and service.

Rooted in a tradition deeply embedded in our history, Sabarmathi follows the timeless practice of learning in harmony with nature. Education takes place in open surroundings, under the shade of trees, within a calm and spacious environment enriched with flora and fauna. This setting is carefully nurtured to promote clarity of thought, focus, and a sense of balance for students, volunteers, and visitors alike.

There are no fixed norms for fees or donations at Sabarmathi Gurukulam. Contributions, referred to as Guru Dakshina, are entirely voluntary and depend on the individual’s financial circumstances. Such contributions may be made either through monetary support or through meaningful work, including assistance in the fields, the kitchen, the library, or the upkeep of the learning spaces. Through this approach, students develop a sense of responsibility, dignity of labour, and leadership, while being encouraged to choose volunteering or part-time engagement in a manner that does not interfere with their studies.

Sabarmathi Gurukulam offers structured guidance and academic support for various competitive examinations, including central and state government services, public sector opportunities, and relevant entrance examinations. A well-equipped library with updated study materials supports this preparation. In addition, an open-air theatre serves as a space for screening thoughtfully selected films and documentaries that encourage ethical reflection, social awareness, and personal growth.

Beyond academics, Sabarmathi Gurukulam continues to evolve as a living institution shaped by collective effort and shared purpose. Cultural and community initiatives, including the preservation and practice of traditional art forms such as Parai (Thappu)—an ancient percussion tradition symbolic of Tamil heritage—reflect the institution’s commitment to integrating cultural roots with education.

Every initiative at Sabarmathi Gurukulam has been made possible through timely support, goodwill, and collective belief. The Gurukulam stands today as a shared journey of students, teachers, volunteers, and well-wishers, working together towards an education system that is inclusive, value-driven, and socially responsible.

Admissions and program registrations are open to students who seek disciplined learning, guided preparation, and a commitment to service.
